The short eared owl project is still going ahead but slowly. Working with a friend of mine we are trying to get closer to the owl without disturbing it so we can record some natural behaviour.These pics are 100% crops so we have a long way to go.The owls interest must always be placed first so we will take our time. If we don't get the shots then so be it.

You are very 'lucky' and priviledged to be able to see these fabulous owls and yes, you are, in my opinion, correct to say if you don't get the shots so be it. But... good luck anyway!!

Priviledged is the right word.It does annoy me when a judge says of a wildlife shot that after all it is final image that counts.their is far more to it than that and they somewhat miss the point.

Thanks Alan. But I wouldn't call them great.Just come back from 3 hrs in the cold waiting for the owl.Did not show up but I got a lovely shot of an empty fence post in great light!! The site we are at was always going to be a gamble looks like it might not pay off.
